Z Tejas Grill~Cornbread is just the Beginning

I think I squealed with delight when I first read in the newspaper that Z Tejas was opening up a location in San Antonio. It has been one of my favorite restaurants in Austin for a long time and I would take clients there when Austin was in my sales territory. It was always consistently good and I was never afraid to take someone out to talk business and risk being disappointed by their food or service.

Wild Mushroom Enchiladas

I am happy to report that the San Antonio location has not disappointed either. I usually end up getting their red chile and mango steak salad. I try and venture out for other things but once I see that option on the menu, I give in. The mix of  beef tenderloin and mangoes and spicy walnuts with bleu cheese crumbles is just perfection in a big bowl! My husband always opts for the wild mushroom enchiladas that has three different types of mushrooms topped with an avocado  tomato relish and an ancho mole cream sauce. Our kids are the more adventurous ones and they do offer a varied kids menu which even has a chopped salad as an option. We have taken advantage of their “kids eat free with each adult entree” on many Sundays after 4pm.

Street Tacos

I always feel like I am at a resort when I am in this location. The patio has a fireplace and plush outdoor furniture that is present in most of the places around the Shops at La Cantera. This end of the mall is quickly becoming the place to go for a variety of pretty decent food. It is hard to decide between Grimaldi’s, Kona Grill, Yardhouse and now the Cheesecake Factory. They are all chains but they are turning out inventive foods. It is all part of the experience of this open air shopping location. Strolling and shopping is almost as fun as eating. Well almost.
