Round Rock Donuts Eat Now Exercise Later

By Laura Nivin Leave a Comment

I have no idea how I have managed to miss out on all the hoopla surrounding Round Rock Donuts until this past weekend. I have lived in Texas my whole life and have driven up and down I-35 a miilion times. I can usually take or leave a donut. I always felt brownies are what are worthy of the calories but not a donut. This theory was before I had tasted a simple glazed and warm Round Rock donut. When we drove up the parking lot was full and the line was long.

We knew this was a very good sign. We ordered half a dozen of the famous donuts and a brownie, cupcake and chocolate chip cookie. Each donut is handmade to order and they have been made this way since 1926. They take your name and then you wait. What comes out is a perfectly packed and warm box of donuts. They make them with an orange glaze that is very unexpected but so perfect. They melt in your mouth. I have never had a donut taste quite like this one. The other items are just an afterthought and come no where close to what is obviously their specialty. They do donuts and they do them well.

Too well.

I am now hitting the gym.

Stay Sassy Y’all.
