Romancing the Thompson

By Laura Nivin Leave a Comment

I love hotels.

I love going to hotels.

I REALLY LOVE going to hotels with my husband.

I REALLY, REALLY LOVE going to hotels with my husband for our anniversary!

Way back in July, we did just that! And I took a bunch a pictures. I got busy and forgot to post them. I came across them today and I must admit they made me hungry and yearning for another night out!

The Thompson Hotel is the newest hotel on the River Walk. It’s right across from the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. It is not as crowded as other parts of the River Walk, just the way us locals prefer it.

We decided to give it a try after seeing so many posts of their rooftop bar on social media. It took some convincing since my man isn’t into hanging out in bars! But this wasn’t just any bar. The food was over the top! Or should I say at the top?!

We ended up sampling a little bit of everything and decided not to even bother with dinner. That led to having time to hang out by the swimming pool.

INSERT RELAXING MUSIC HERE.

They have pool cabanas that you don’t have to reserve that is included with your room charge.

SOME MORE RELAXING MUSIC PLEASE!

Do we have to go home yet?!

After a great night’s sleep in the modern, cozy room, we decided to have brunch at the hotel. Landrace is the brain child of Chef Steve McHugh. And the food was every bit as good as we anticipated. The ricotta cheese pancakes were the standout choice for me. The big Stud even went off his diet and had the roasted potatoes which were worth cheating a little!

And that my friends, is the fastest recap of our anniversary celebration-the 27th edition.

We don’t kiss and tell too much!

Sometimes a little overnight stay at a swanky hotel is all you need to bring back a little romance!

Hubba, Hubba!

Stay Sassy Y’all.

Some pictures of our favorite things! Yes, we ate all of it!
