Little Red Barn is Big on Family

By Laura Nivin Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago I attended the bridal shower of a young lady who had been our babysitter.

Once she graduated college and met her new boyfriend, we saw her less and less!

She grew up in San Antonio in a very close knit and loving family.

Her mother and I have become personal friends over the years and have stayed in touch. When Pattie called me to give me the news about her daughter Erica, I could have sworn that she was about to burst with excitement over the phone. She is proud of both of her daughters and deservedly so. They are both so warm and loving. Whenever you are with them, they want to catch up with every single detail about your life and your whole entire family.

Just being around them makes you feel better.

I couldn’t wait to see them at Erica’s shower. It was being held at the Little Red Barn.

It is a restaurant in San Antonio that opened back in 1963.

It is now considered to be one of the country’s largest steakhouses!

It is one of those places that people go to for not only the food but for the atmosphere.

It is known to have numerous tour buses in their parking lot at any time or day of the week.

I took my camera with me so I could take some pictures for Erica since she is one of those people that loves to scrapbook. She often makes gifts out of photos and most of her family would be in attendance, or at least the girls!

I knew that Erica’s  Grandmother had worked at the Little Red Barn as a head cashier for over 30 years and the shower location held special meaning. What I didn’t realize until I was  there was that her Grandmother’s brother was the person that had originally founded this famous restaurant.

Three generations of a very special family at the Little Red Barn.

A place that makes you feel like you are at home.

Especially, if your home is in Texas!

We were served a delicious salad.

It had grilled chicken, spinach, feta cheese, almonds, cranberries and oranges.

Everyone at our table are hoping to find it on the permanent menu.

They could call it the bridal shower salad!

Of course there was punch and cake!

And party favors too.

And extra special friendships.

And best of all, family.

Celebrating the very first cousin to get married.

Best wishes to you sweet Erica.

You will be a beautiful bride!

I hope they can fix you that salad!
Stay Sassy Y’all!
