Is this thing on?
Hi y’all.
It’s me, Sassy.
It’s been awhile.
Remember me? I’m the one with the big hair!
I took a break from blogging and most of social media over the summer. I wanted to spend some time in East Texas with family.
And I did.
It was wonderful.
I couldn’t remember the last time my sisters and I got together to hang out. Sure, we see each other at all our family gatherings but not just us girls. It makes such a difference when you don’t feel the tug of kids and responsibilities.
What crazy things did we get into? Well, we went estate sale shopping a lot.
And ate out a lot. And laughed a lot. And told funny stories about growing up in our house with eight brothers and sisters all while having only one full bathroom.
It was heaven.
In case you were wondering, Tyler has the best estate sales in all of East Texas.
We found a new place to have lunch in between all that estate sale shopping.
Fd’s Grill House is on the loop in Tyler off Broadway in a mega shopping center. It took us awhile to find it because it’s way back in the corner of a concrete jungle. Were we in Tyler or Dallas?!
We all got salads. I took a picture of mine because I have this weird obsession with food pictures. It had salmon, kale, quinoa, cabbage and other things. It was the best tasting healthy salad that I think I have ever ordered in a restaurant.
We spent a lot of time in Kilgore too. And we ate at Downtown D’ Lites one or ten times. I became slightly obsessed with their sandwich bread. They make it in house and it’s crazy good. I also can’t seem to get enough of their hibiscus tea.
While we are on the topic of things I ate this summer, like a good Catholic girl, I must confess about partaking in a few donuts over the break.
I had this in Seattle. This lemon donut made me cry. It was the best donut I have ever had in my whole entire life. My friend Melissa warned me about how good they were and she was so right. Top Pot Donuts should be on your bucket list. I thought I was going to have to get on another plane to have one but guess what? They have them in Dallas too! Who knew?
Road trip anyone?
I have no idea how I got here. I was talking about not blogging, my sisters, estate sales and I somehow ended up with donuts!
I guess some things never change.
I’ll try to blog more.
I have missed you.
Stay Sassy Y’all.
