My husband has been visiting East Texas with me for almost 28 years. He appreciates the beauty of the landscape as much as I do. He loves to play golf on as many different courses as he can when he’s there as well.
It’s a lot harder to get a tee time in the big city.
With a little golf, cooking, visiting with family, catching up with some friends, we made sure to take in all the fall colors along Elder Lake.
There’s just something about tall pine trees.
I love them.
When I was little, I would lay down on the ground in our front yard to look up at them all the time. I was so fascinated in their movement. The trees seemed so out of proportion. How did they not fall over, even if the biggest storms? They were so tall and skinny.
And when I got to be a teenager, I fell out of love when our dad made us pick up the pine needles every single weekend during the fall.
I went on to move to the concrete jungle of Dallas with no trees to San Antonio with oak trees.
We don’t get much fall color with oak trees in south Texas.
That’s why we make the pilgrimage to East Texas in the fall. It’s worth the ridiculously long drive and fighting interstate 35 traffic.
It’s just so beautiful.
It feeds the soul.
Enjoy some of the pictures I took along with the big Stud and our dog King!
The dog loves pine tress too but for totally different reasons!
Happy Fall even if it’s almost winter but it feels like summer!
Because Texas.
Stay Sassy Y’all.
