Cool Crest is Back and Better than Ever

By Laura Nivin 2 Comments

In case you haven’t heard the news, Cool Crest is back and better than ever!

The re-opening of this iconic and much loved miniature golf course has been quite the community effort.

From the restoration of the benches to the countless hours of bringing the lush vegetation back to life, I can’t recall a more focused effort of restoring something to it’s original splendor.

And after taking my family there on Saturday, I can honestly say it is much more than I remember.

My sister was in town this weekend. Every time she visits, she wants to go to Cool Crest. It was one of her son’s favorite places in San Antonio.

She even planted some tropical plants that she discovered on a visit in her own garden. She loved reminiscing about those special times under the banana trees.

When I told her a few years ago that it had closed down for good, she took the news like everyone else who had so many fond memories of this place, disbelief.

How could something so wonderful and had been around for so long suddenly be gone?

A local San Antonio family missed it so much that they bought it with great plans to restore it to it’s former glory.

And after playing our first round of miniature golf on the newly re-opened Cool Crest, it looked like it did before.

But maybe even more beautiful.

Despite the heat, there was still a cool breeze blowing under all those trees.

Everyone was so glad to be there again.

And making plans to return.

Where else can you see bananas growing?

and the perfect view of downtown?

All while listening to relaxing music

sprinkled with lots of laughter

It was a great time with an old friend.

Welcome Back.

We sure did miss you.

I know. it is such a gift to the community! I so love that place. It’s like stepping back in time. My kids love it too.
