I am finally recovered from Fiesta and am getting caught up on all things domestic around the house. Well, not all things, but I did manage to clean out the garage.
Contrary to my last post, unfortunately I don’t spend too much time in swanky hotels. I thought I would let you know the excitement that was in store for me today.
I have been on the hunt for this spice for 3 days; Star Anise. It is hard to find in a whole form. I had to go to a totally different store across town to find it today. Riveting. Stop the Presses. Do you like the fancy paper towel I used in the photo to show contrast? I am so creative. I am going to make something wonderful with this spice and blog about it in the next few days. I was supposed to take a picture of the dish a few weeks ago at a party. Um, I forgot. I was too busy catching up and chatting and drinking wine. There were a lot of people there that I hadn’t seen in awhile. I now know that I cannot blog and drink wine at the same time. Kind of like touching your nose while standing on one foot. The dish is so marvelous that I wanted to recreate it and take a great picture to share with the recipe. Plus, the whole wonderful story that goes with it is very sweet; like the young lady I want to tell you about. How is that for a teaser?
Speaking of wine, I was in Costco today. Costco completes me. That’s my tagline for Costco. I have no incentive whatsoever to talk about Costco on here other than to tell you that I am pretty much there a couple of times a week. When you go with your hubby to their wine section on a Friday night date, proceed to eat a caesar salad in their food court and then leave with some tulips that he bought you while strolling by the flower section; it is a good indication that you might be rather fond of Costco.
I was looking around for a few bottles of wine for the house and for some house warming gifts. I noticed some things. Now I don’t pretend to know much about wines. I have been to many wine tasting events and NAPA Valley a few times and even taken tours of wineries. And sadly, I still don’t know much about wine. I definitely know when I like a particular one. Reds are my favorite. It is getting to be hot in South Texas so sangrias will soon be a necessity. Fruit juices and wine are a beautiful pair and so refreshing.
I am so glad they have have these scores and descriptions so you can try new wines.
Although this one says it has aromas of pencil lead. Is that a good thing?
Now this one has 94 points! What an overachiever! 19. for a bottle of wine is a little pricey for me.
It says it has the complexity of leather and tobacco.
Um, is that a good thing?
Should I admit to picking out wines because their labels are pretty? It drives my husband crazy. We buy all our neighbors wine at Christmas.
I insist on matching the label on the wine bottle to the gift bag. Silly, I know. I can’t help it. It has to match.
This is something I would choose. Pretty label and has flavors of chocolate and cappuccino.
It would garner an eye roll or three from the big Stud!
Boxed wines are more and more popular. Too bad they don’t have a pretty label. Wish they would Sass up the packaging a little.
My bunco group is awfully fond of the boxed wines. I have a fun bunco group!
This one is described as very ripe and very primal. That sounds sexy. A sexy wine.
The label is kind of plain but I put this one in the cart!
I will let you know how it tastes!
Aren’t you glad you stopped by to learn all I know about wines!
Love ya.
Stay Sassy.
