We just unpacked the last piece of luggage from which will more than likely be our final trip of the summer.
Tomorrow kicks off football practice for our oldest and basketball camp for one of the youngest. And can you believe that one of our daughters wants to shop for school supplies today? She just can’t hold off one more day!
Most of our trips this summer revolved around family.
This last trip was in my hometown of Kilgore,Texas.
There was some playing of golf, catching up with friends and family, a lot of eating and even a little bit of fishing.
Only one child likes to fish. Well, I’m not really sure if she likes to fish or that she gets to spend special time with her Uncle Mark.
She insisted that I wake her up before dawn so she wouldn’t miss a single minute of fishing the morning that we were leaving.
As we were drinking coffee on the deck watching the sun come up, the light hit the lake and for lack of a better description, it looked like magic. The rays somehow seemed to bring the plants and water to life. With each passing minute, the sun was changing the landscape right before our eyes; the leaves on the trees and grass were glistening without even being wet.
My husband grabbed my camera to try and capture the moment before the sunlight would move beyond the lake.
The pictures were breathtakingly beautiful.
This is my favorite one.
It sums up our trips this summer.
There is a beauty in nature.
There is a beauty in family.
There is a beauty in relationships.
My prayer is that our kids will always remember to see the beauty all around them, especially when the lighting isn’t always perfect.
Happy almost end of summer.
Stay Sassy Y’all.
