Livin’ Sassy is growing. We are getting more and more visitors every single day and we are so very thankful. I say we, when it is basically me and my friend Michelle who is the mother of 5, with 2 sets of twins. I call her so we can go over my latest post since she has a Masters in English and I don’t. We have already developed a pattern in our very short working relationship. Here is an example, Michelle: “That sentence is too long.” Me: “But it’s dang funny……long pause….. OK, I’ll change it” followed by a snort of laughter at my own joke. I love her. If you need a brain to proof your work, she is your gal. I also have a wonderful website designer in Santa Clara Design who I still send frantic emails begging for help with pictures that have their heads cut off. Secret Agent Josephine was the wonderful logo designer. It is an all women show at Livin’ Sassy!
Here is a brief background on how Livin’ Sassy came to fruition:
I was laid off in June 2009 by a large investment bank after a very volatile ride in the mortgage wholesale lending business. Now what? I had been in the mortgage business for over 20 years and had been successful but I was exhausted, both mentally and physically. Fortunately, my husband and I have always budgeted to live on only one income so I could take some time to figure something out. I became a stay at home Mom again and enjoyed every single minute, well, when the kids weren’t whining and fighting. In the meantime, I finally joined Facebook to keep up with my friends. I discovered my sense of humor again. I started posting and friends and family told me I was funny. I had no idea that I had this talent! I guess I finally took it seriously when my sister, who had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer told me that it was the only good thing about chemotherapy. She could hang out with our Mom and they could laugh together at my status updates. She made me promise that I would do something with my humor. I came up with a company name after asking my Facebook friends on a status update and the best suggestion was Livin’ Sassy. I started out wanting to help businesses with their social media needs but soon found it was not for me. I put it on the back burner when I started doing some contract underwriting work when our twins started kindergarten. Fast forward to September of 2011 when the kids started school again and I wasn’t as busy doing contract work. My sister had lost her battle with a very aggressive form of breast cancer in February and her birthday was coming up so I set her birthday as the date to have my website up and running after having the concept ready in my head. (I plan on writing more about my sister at a later date. It is still too soon) I found the perfect website designer and soon realized that the website world can’t exactly turn out a product like the mortgage industry, there is no such thing as a fast closing when you have to write code! Livin’ Sassy was launched on November 22, 2011.
Here are my ideas for some ongoing features:
Sassy Moms of the Month-I will continue to feature real Moms in real clothes. I just hate the fashion magazines that give us pictures of size 2 models or the latest popular celebrities that are so airbrushed that you almost don’t recognize them. The prices of the outfits will always be affordable. I know no one in real life that pays $500 for a pair of shoes!
Gala dress watch-The hubby is in a profession where he gets invited to a lot of events and many of them are formal. He often forgets to mention that I need to accompany him to an event in a few days. Have you ever tried to find a size 12 floor length gown in two days? Do you know how much exfoliation is involved for a woman in her forties? Why do men not understand this? I have the talent to pull together looks for $50 or less and will happily post pictures of the outfits-that is as long as I am having a good hair day.
My Love Affair with San Antonio-I live in a cool city. I have been able to see first hand the exciting changes happening in San Antonio. This is where I plan on keeping you up on the latest events and fun happenings around town.
Please feel free to email me or comment with your suggestions.
Thank you for being a part of Livin’ Sassy. I am very excited about what will be the next chapter in my life, that is Life,Love and Laughter and a whole lot of Lipstick. I hope you keep coming back.
I love ya’ll.
Disclaimer: Michelle did absolutely no editing on this post. Any errors and bad verbiage usage is all my fault and not Michelle’s.
I found this dress for $15. I think I had 4 days notice to this event. I guess I should confess that this is a size 14 and the hair was a little poofy that day!
