Our dog Sofie just had surgery on her leg. She is doing fine and healing up.
Well, she did feel the need to rip out her first set of stitches so we had to get a bigger cone for her head. This cone seems to be working out and she can’t get to her leg to chew anything off. Although the cone is so big that she can’t fit it in her cage where she loves to take her naps.
Since the veterinary procedure cost more than our mortgage payment, we decided to be fiscally responsible this year and forgo our big summer vacation. Sometimes it’s just not fun being a grown up but I know Dave Ramsey would be proud. And there is this pesky little thing called a college fund for our kids.
We decided to plan things to do in and around San Antonio instead. My niece is here for the week. She is about my son’s age and has been hanging out with us during the summer since she was about 7. I feel like I have two sets of twins for the week. We couldn’t wait for her to visit!
Yesterday was spent at the Shops of LaCantera for a little window shopping and lunch of Chick-fil-A in the food court.
We packed dinner for our neighborhood pool and swam for three hours.
Day One of Operation Staycation:
Lunch cost $26.55
Dinner cost $5.
Pool cost $.57 cents
(I used our homeowners dues divided by 365 days a year. Our pool rocks. It has lots of shade trees and picnic tables. Dinner was peanut butter and jelly sandwiches because you know how much I love to cook!)
Fun Factor as reported by the kids on a scale of 1 to 10:
Catherine (7 yr old)- a 10 because she LOVES swimming
Savannah (7 yr old)-a 10 because she got to swim with her cousin
Brennan (13 yr old)-a 3 because it didn’t involve basketball
Lauren (14 yr old)-a 5 because I told her to compare it to Fiesta Texas and that affected her initial score
Assuming that I can still do simple math since it is summer: fun factor for day one is a 7 at a cost of $32.12
Forgive the really bad picture quality of my phone.
In my opinion, there is nothing like staying until the pool closes and swimming with the lights on!
Day 2 takes us on the road to the Hill Country!
Stay tuned for our bargain staycation details!
Stay Sassy Y’all.
