Welcome back to our week long series of Operation Staycation!
So far, we have gone swimming at our neighborhood pool a couple of times, went to Fiesta Texas, a waterpark in Bandera and a state park in Blanco. We have eaten some wonderful food and some so-so meals! Overall, we are just happy to hang out together and I am happy to avoid doing the dishes. Housework is to be avoided at all costs during staycation.
On Day 5 ,the kids were tired and wanted to take it easy. They stayed in their pajamas until 4pm!
The only thing that they did outdoors was go to the park near the new Mission Concepcion Sports Complex while the boy had basketball practice. My husband said that they had the coolest new facilities of any park in the city. He didn’t think to take a picture but you can find out more at www.mcsportspark.org This new sports park just had its grand opening in June. It is located at the new Mission Reach of the Riverwalk. It is a huge regional sports complex that will play host to tournaments, etc. It even has a Lacrosse field, which is hard to find in San Antonio. Our boy loves to play lacrosse, so hopefully he will get to play on those new fields in the future. The park area has also gotten brand new playground equipment for the smaller kids to enjoy.
I guess the day didn’t cost us anything and I am afraid to ask them the fun factor for this day! Although, a do nothing day was very much needed.
Day 6 found us at Oak Hills Lanes for some cosmic bowling!
It involves dimmed lights, neon colors and loud music! The kids loved it.
This bowling alley has been around forever but they are currently adding on 8 lanes.
There was so much construction outside that we thought they were closed. You only hear the music once you step inside.
You can bowl for 2 hours for $4.99 a child which includes the shoes.
The 7 year olds were good for almost 2 games and the older kids played a total of 3 games.
We almost got out of there without having to play video games, dang it.
For a late lunch, we took our niece to experience her very first food truck meal.
We drove to the Point on Boerne Stage Road. We were a little late for lunch so there were only a couple of trucks still serving food.
I let the older kids go by themselves since I could see them from the car. One of the twins had fallen asleep.
They came back with dessert crepes for their lunch entree! This is a smores crepe. Dear Lord, that looks good.
I didn’t even get a bite.
The boy picked out a strawberry and banana crepe which he had already started eating on the way back to the car!
I went and found something a little healthier for them to eat.
Don’t you just love grilled pineapple?
Don’t you just love food trucks?
The cost of Day 6 of Operation Staycation is:
Bowling for 4 kids $19.98
Snack at bowling alley of large popcorn and a pitcher of sprite $8.13
Food truck lunch $26.00
Total $54.11
Fun Factor for the day is a 6. The average was brought down because the boy thinks bowling should be a contact sport!
Tomorrow will be the big finale of Operation Staycation. I am hoping for the best day of all but if it turns into a disaster, I will guess I can just consider it excellent blogging material!
Happy Friday and don’t forget to enter the Morgan’s Wonderland Give away for a blingy T-shirt AND two admissions to the park! Deadline tomorrow at midnight!
