Day 3 of our Operation Staycation took us to Bandera, Texas. It is just a short drive of about 40 miles up Highway 16 from San Antonio.
The kids requested a day at the Flying L Ranch’s Waterpark. We went last summer and they had a blast. This year, they wanted to invite some of their friends along. There is just something about teenagers and traveling in groups. They seem to have more fun in a pack. The hubby went back to work so it was just me and as many kids that could fit in the van!
Monday is half priced admission.
It seems a lot of people got the memo!
It was more crowded then it was last summer.
Kids from 3-12 get in for about 5.00
Adult price is 13 and up and it is 10.00
It’s a bargain!
We got there around lunch time and we all wanted to swim a little before we ate lunch.
About two hours later when I realized it was time to reapply sunscreen, I remembered that the kids hadn’t eaten yet!
You lose track of time in the lazy river. I got a little sidetracked. I am not used to total relaxation.
We checked out their menu. A burger, fries and a drink would cost about $13.00 a piece! Yikes.
$91.00 to feed this party of 7 kids……we got in the car and drove to Sonic down the street.
We came back and swam some more….and more….and more…..and played a little free miniature golf…and swam some more.
The kids finally got tired.
We stop and pet the miniature horses one more time on our way back to the car.
My city kids don’t see horses very much, big or little.
And drove back on another scenic route home.
We were all exhausted and happy.
Another day of fun.
Cost breakdown of Day 3 of Operation Staycation:
Admission to Flying L Waterpark (half price Monday) $31.92
Lunch at Sonic for 7 people $42.90
Gas for the drive $8.55
Total of $83.37
Fun Factor 9 This took a big jump because as I suspected, the teenagers loved hanging out with their friends.
Day 4 Operation Staycation kept us in San Antonio. We had free passes that my sister mailed to us. The waterpark was too crowded so we just rode the rides. It was pretty hot so we only lasted about four hours. Did y’all know that the Rattler is about to be shuttered for good? The wooden roller coaster was the longest wait line by far. There were a lot of people that wanted to ride it just one more time. Bye,girl. Thanks for the screams over the years!
We then came home and rested up, ate dinner and then cooled off in our neighborhood pool.
Cost Breakdown of Day 4
Lunch at Panda Express at Fiesta Texas $19.37 (the portions are huge so you can easily share)
Admission: Free-thanks to my sister
Total $19.37
Fun Factor 8 They indicated that it would have been higher but it was too hot!
The kids are getting worn out so we are taking it easy today.
I might combine the last days together in one post.
I can’t wait for Friday. Hopefully, there will be lots of photo opportunities to share.
We’ve never been to the place we are going on Friday! How is that for a teaser?
Operation Staycation continues…….
Stay Sassy Y’all.
