Our prayers tonight as I tucked my children in bed were for the families affected by the Oklahoma tornadoes. The bad weather was the topic of our dinner conversation. There is nothing sweeter than seeing my children with their hands folded in prayer asking God to “Keep them all safe, Amen.”
When I finally turned on the television to see the extent of the damage, it literally took the breath out of me. I immediately thought about all those families who had spent the morning rushing out the door to get to school and work. In a few short hours, their lives would never be the same. A seemingly normal day was now filled with such devastation.
We still don’t know exactly how many people were given their last kiss goodbye or no longer have a place to call their home. Hopefully, we can start coming together as a nation to help in some small way. And until then we can only pray.
I pray that more people are found under the rubble.
I pray that the first responders stay safe in the difficult task of search and rescue.
I pray that the families can rebuild their lives in the aftermath of such tragedy.
And may The Lord wrap his loving arms around those that lost their loved ones and give comfort in their grief.
I think I’ll go watch my children sleep.
And pray a little more.
May God Bless our friends in Oklahoma.
Amen.
