My kids love food almost as much as the hubby and I do and we have both been on diets and watching what we eat while training for the Rock and Roll Half Marathon. (don’t be that impressed because we are really, really slow) As a compromise we picked Papouli’s Greek Grill for lunch. (Papouli’s)
We ate at the Huebner location which is in a strip center and decorated simply/ The kids had the tilapia fish platter which they liked but they really loved the rice pilaf and greek salad that came with it and were begging for more so next time we will be sure to order the rice a la carte! The hubby had the falafel pita sandwich which he thought was excellent but should have gotten the tzatziki sauce on the side because it was oozing out of the pita bread. I had the chicken salad Espana (in picture) which is more than likely my favorite new “diet salad.” It has hand pulled chicken and cranberries and a sauce that is kind of citrusy and they serve it on simple bed of lettuce with olives and tomatoes and pita bread. I loved it so much that I went home to “google” the nutrition content so I can implement it to a meal that I can look forward to and plan ahead of time.
I will be sure they serve the sauce on the side and let the kids eat my pita bread.
All in all it was a good afternoon meal of fresh, new and different foods that my family enjoyed and we had plenty of leftovers for the week.
