When one of my fellow Antonian basketball team moms handed me the card to order our t-shirts, I had no idea that I would stumble upon such a sassy treasure!
Maddie Mac Boutique has been cranking out unique and custom creations for over sixteen years!
The mind behind this fun store is Maggie Ibarra-Jimenez. She started her business in 1998 after she found out she was having a daughter. It was a way to have some flexibility with her family of three. What began as making hair bows and t-shirts for girls, soon blossomed into her having to purchase the building to house her creations.
She has branched out into making wreaths, picture frames, head bands, skirts, hats and Fiesta medals.
Yes, a whole entire space dedicated to customized gaudy goodness. I looked around the store a little bit and almost fainted with an overabundance of that much sassy under one roof!
I had surely died and gone to heaven!
After I put my deposit down for the custom made “basketball mom” t shirt, I chatted with Maggie about her business. I was more than curious about how a store could have such success without traditional advertising. She credits her network of church friends, family and of course the “moms” around San Antonio.
I’ve always said that if you think politicians have clout, let me introduce you to some cheer moms!
And Maddie Mac Boutique is the perfect example that word of mouth matters!
Maggie keeps her store stocked with seasonal items that she has personally designed for all things San Antonio.
My favorite is the “I’m Just Here for the Tamales” t-shirts and wreaths. There is also a big supply of “tacky” Christmas sweaters and vests that are still very popular to wear to parties.
Soon after the holiday season ends, she begins working on Fiesta items. As a matter of fact, the uniquely San Antonio spring time event is her busiest time of the year.
Honestly, I could go on and on about this store. It is just one of those places that you have to see for yourself, again and again!
With the ever changing stock of items, I am sure you won’t see the same thing twice.
And you are guaranteed to be greeted by one of the most hard working and fun ladies in the Alamo City!
The store is located at 2607 Vance Jackson, just a couple of blocks down from LaFogata.
You can grab your girlfriends and shop at Maddie Mac and then talk about your finds over a margarita!
It’s the sassy thing to do!
Be sure and check their Facebook page for the phone number, hours of operation and pictures on the latest finds and happenings in the store.
Stay Sassy Y’all.
