I love to get my hair done. My kids love it when I get my hair done. They know their Mom will be in a particularly good mood when I pick them up from school. I have a lot of naturally curly hair so it takes forever to fix so I usually end up pulling it back a lot of the time, especially since I don’t work in an office anymore. Today was a big deal. I had my hair flat ironed. Dang, it looks long when it’s straight! (see my picture, I need to stop squinting in pics!) I have always had long hair, well except for that big tangle incident in fifth grade and I had to cut it all off, but we don’t mention that, especially to my girls who have inherited the “I hate to get my hair brushed gene!” Although I have accidentally blurted out while trying to get them to sit still, “You HAVE to brush your hair every single day or you will have to cut all your hair off like your Mom did!” I got used to coloring my own hair when I was a stay at home Mom. I really couldn’t afford to go to a salon. They always charge so much more since my hair is so long. Lucky for me, I discovered the Aveda Institute when I was attending a Junior League function a few years back. They were styling hair at an Ole Market event and had their price list available. I took one look and saw how inexpensive it was and that was enough for me to try it out. I have been going there ever since. They use all Aveda hair color products, as well as their other services. I have never had a bad experience. They always have an educator right there to guide them. My hair is in a lot better condition by not coloring it at home anymore. The facility is so hip and trendy. I never feel like I am in a “beauty school.” My student today was Kourtney. She did a wonderful job. She was very warm and friendly and seemed as if she loved doing hair! The only bad thing about going to the school is that you find someone you really like and then they up and graduate! I have until May to see Kourtney again. I hope she is glad to see me again. I am pretty sure I helped educate her on big hair today!
They have Aveda Institutes all over the country. If you are on a budget like me then you should really check them out locally www.avedainstitutestexas.com and nationwide at www.avedainstitutes.com.

Why Thank you Ruby! You of all people should be thrilled that I had my hair done! You only see me in work out clothes before I go to the gym! You always look like a million bucks!

I LOVE your hair curly OR straight, ponytail or down!! Precious pic of you in your “younger” years….I also love getting my hair straightened, cause I don’t have the patience to do it myself. I am gonna have to look for an Aveda Institute close to me….thanks so much for the tip!
