When you first walk into the new location of Green Restaurant at Wurzbach and NW Military you are sent into a sensory overload of pretty. I would love to find out who designed the decor in the restaurant because it is just extraordinary. I was taking pictures of the light fixtures and the bathroom walls just to get some ideas for my house. To say it is aesthetically pleasing is an understatement. The food is not your usual fare since it is a vegetarian restaurant but don’t take it off your list of places to try if you are a serious carnivore because there is something for everyone.
My family usually goes out to eat after church on Sunday so we are often ordering off of their brunch menu. My boy always wants their blueberry pancakes and the twin girls tried the sweet potato french toast this time and it is their new favorite. I had the avocado chipotle eggs benedict which has the perfect amount of heat and creaminess. You can have your eggs served any way and it is placed on top of fresh avocado slices and a piece of whole grain bread. My husband had the huevos rancheros that had eggs, tortillas, refried beans and salsa and was served with red corn tortillas which were pretty flavorless and not really necessary for the meal.
They seem to be highlighting the cupcakes since they moved them to the front of the restaurant in a special display case which makes it hard to resist. We tried the cookies and cream and peppermint cupcakes. The favorite was the cookies and cream which has the richest flavors and we all agreed the peppermint one was rather dry, although it won’t prevent us from trying the other flavors on our next visit.
I thought about putting the ladies restroom pictures on here but that might be a little tacky. Trust me, the bathroom is worthy of it’s own critique~just lovely!
We are so glad to have a new Green location out in the “burbs” and not just downtown. The spot in the Alon Market is perfect for its proximity to the Hardberger Park across the street and HEB in the same shopping center. Although, we are selfishly afraid that it will stay crowded!
