I love going to the Fiest Art Show at the Southwest School of Crafts, you always find some unique finds.
Laura says
That is my kids favorite too Cathy! They love all the unique art they are able to do and the setting is just gorgeous! We always park in the library parking garage and walk right across the street! LOVE IT!

Great job, Carolyn and Laura! My favorite Fiesta event is the river parade. My favorite unofficial Fiesta event, always on the the Saturday after Battle of Flowers, is the Everything of Children Sale put on my Concoria MOPS. Great place to find gently used consignment items, every you could need for your kiddos. : )

So they have it the same time every year? Did not know that-it seems like I miss it every year~Love a bargain!
Norma says
I love to go to Oyster Bake on Friday night. This is their family night and the event ends with a spectacular fireworks display. If you have never attended, come out this year and have a great time. The headliners for Friday, April 20 are Smashmouth and Kevin Fowler. Oh and by the way, kids 12 and under are free.
Laura says
I am embarrassed to admit that I didn’t even know they had family night!! Thanks for the info~I know the alumni at St. Mary’s use this as their main fundraiser for scholarships for students to attend the university! Yeah Oyster Bake-it is a fun event~It is on April 20th and 21st this year for our readers benefit~You almost need a spread sheet for all the planning of events!!

My favorite is the night parade. With all the lighted floats I feel like I am in Heaven
Laura says
I have never been to Fiesta Flambeau parade but I always watch it on TV. I be it is prettier in person! Sounds heavenly!

I would have to say the river parade. I remember sitting in the Artisan Theater as a kid watching all the pretty floats go by.
Laura says
There is just nothing like the river parade! I love the lavishly decorated floats and lately the have been playing such great music as they float by!

I have lived here in San Antonio for the last 7 years and I have to admit I have never been to anything that relates to fiesta! Being a single mom the idea of taking 4 kids (3 babies) was a bit overwhelming for me. This year I’m going all out and taking all the kids to Battle of the flowers! I’ve bought the girls festive dresses and hair pieces that have brightly colored flowers and streamers on them! I go myself a new outfit and I’m ready to take this whole experience in! I want to soak it up this year! This is our first year, but won’t be our last! VIVA FIESTA!
PS. Thank you for the great information on fiesta this year!
Laura says
So excited for you and the kids! They will love it! There is a free event at Clark High School called Family Funday Sunday on the 22th that is put on by the band boosters. It is a lot more low key than the parade so it might ease you into it!

This will be the fourth and last time I’m in Texas during Fiesta. I still don’t understand what Fiesta really is or celebrates. I would love to go to battle of the flowers or the night parade. I have been to Niosa which I enjoyed. I liked seeing all of the bright colors, trying different foods, listening to music and watching people dance. We have nothing like this in Pennsylvania so it has been a memorable experience.
