Change. Adaptability.
These are two words that I have been using quite a bit lately, not only in my personal life but my professional life as well.
If you live long enough, you realize how well you accept change can make a difference in your overall attitude.
One of my friends has been on my mind because she has been going through tremendous change in her life, but she is more than used to adapting to change.
I first met MaryAnn Arbogast when I was on a sales call in Dallas. She was a potential client and I was hoping to see if her company would consider changing their list of mortgage insurance partners. Even though I didn’t get the answer I wanted, I had made a new friend.
After many years of being a stay at home mom and then doing some contract work for the same mortgage insurance company, I called on MaryAnn once again. Neither one of us had any idea that we were now calling San Antonio home.
Before their recent move, MaryAnn and her husband Carl lived in San Antonio for over 12 years. They raised their two beautiful daughters Chloe and Paige here and came to know it as their adopted hometown. Their friendships in San Antonio were deepened as MaryAnn relied on them while Carl was deployed to the war in Iraq.
While working full time in the stressful mortgage industry and having her husband thousands of miles in harms way, MaryAnn relied on her many friends to take her daughters to all their school functions and activities. She not only managed to survive but thrive with the help of her vast network of friends.
When her husband finally returned home as a Bronze Star Medal recipient, her family was even closer because of their adaptability to change.
And Paige just became engaged and has since moved to Hong Kong.
MaryAnn was trying to get used to the idea of her daughter living so far away when Carl told her his exciting news. He had been offered his dream job. It was over 2000 miles away.
Carl is now the Naval JROTC Science Instructor at a local high school.
And like most things in her life, MaryAnn saw this as a new opportunity for adventure. She wasn’t sure if she would have a job when she started packing her house up for the Puget Sound. She was hoping and praying that it would somehow fall into place.
When she finally broke the news to her boss that she would soon be moving to the Pacific Northwest, they saw this as an opportunity to open up in a new market. MaryAnn is now laying groundwork for a mortgage banking office in a brand new territory.
And if it is like anything else that MaryAnn has done in her professional and personal life, she will excel.
Not only are her and Carl busy exploring all the beauty of their new surroundings, they are planning their daughter’s wedding that will soon take place in San Antonio.

So from Everett, Washington, Hong Kong and San Antonio, there is an abundance of change and adaptability in MaryAnn’s life.
Now her many friends in the mortgage banking business are left feeling her absence back here in San Antonio.

After many years of hard work and sacrifice that these two have experienced throughout their marriage, they’ve got this change and adaptability thing down.
And it never looked better.
We miss you already.
Stay Sassy Y’all.
