My little blog has been awfully quiet lately, too quiet.
I never knew how much I loved blogging until I stopped doing it full time.
Something happened a few months ago that put me on a path for change.
I received a phone call in my car during my work -day. It was someone wanting to publish one of my blog posts in their national magazine.
Who, me?
Oh yes, I do have a blog! I did write that story of those amazing women.
I then went to the post on my smart phone and read it again.
I cried.
Oh, how I love the power of words.
I love to be moved to tears in observation of the human spirit.
I love how being inspired by other’s stories brings it all together for me.
And then I realized how much I missed it.
Over the course of the next couple of months, I came to the realization that there was something that I could do as a career choice that would bring all my skills together.
The only thing that was holding me back was fear of the unknown.
Fear?
Seriously?
My blog was filled my girlfriends and their triumphs in facing their fears.
I had even written some of my own instances of leaps of faith that turned out splendidly!
Soon after, I marched in my husband’s home office just as he was finishing up an economic impact study to discuss my idea.
After weighing the pros and the cons, he agreed with my decision.
The man that I have been married to for almost twenty years simply said, “Honey, you are very smart and talented and I will always have faith in you.”
Of course, I cried again!
There are going to be some big changes for me and Livin’ Sassy in 2014.
Not only will there be a lot more to blog about, but the website will getting a fresh new look.
I will be working with my friend Lauren again with Santa Clara Design. She creates some awfully pretty websites! I can just give her my ideas and she somehow makes them come to life!
I started this blog back in November of 2011, at the urging of my girlfriends. It was to be filled with humor and creativity. I soon came up with the idea of writing stories about women after my sister Liz lost her battle with breast cancer. Her story may have ended but I wanted a platform to share the stories of other women that inspire me and everyone else around them.
I want to thank my friends that have allowed me over the past two years to tell their stories on Livin’ Sassy. Not only do you they continue to inspire me, but they make a difference in the lives of their families every single day.
Here are just a few examples of some friends that have helped inspire the readers of Livin’ Sassy:
Not only has McKenna beat cancer, she has since graduated with her masters degree and adopted another child.
Niki’s beautiful words should be read at the beginning of every new year.
There is no better example of perseverance than Jonnie suddenly becoming a single mother of four.
A group of San Antonio triathletes pushed their bodies to the limits and have since become Iron Men!
Although this friend remains anonymous on the blog, she continues to be an example of faith and strength to all that know her.
You never know what will become of a beautiful friendship. I was honored to have their story published in October of 2013 by Exceptional Parent Magazine.
And finally, I am forever grateful for seeing the world through my mother’s eyes.
I look forward to sharing more posts with you in 2014.
Come back for some laughs, inspiration and a few more surprises!
Happy New Year.
Stay Sassy Y’all.
