There are so many festive events in San Antonio this weekend. I don’t know where to start. I seem to have become a travel and event blogger lately. For me, it is all about experiences and connecting to one another. Plus, our city is just cool. There is a reason that we have so many tourists come and visit. As locals, you need to go and explore and see what all the fuss is about.
Earlier this week, I took a river barge ride with my Junior League of San Antonio’s sustainer group. We had food and drinks prepared by the restaurant, Acenar. We all had a marvelous time. I was amazed at how many of these local ladies had yet to see the new part of the Riverwalk, the Museum Reach.
These are just a few of our group. We are in the lock and dam part of the Museum Reach. Ernest from the Acenar staff was so attentive!
It was the only time that I could take pictures. It’s hard while the barge is moving!
This is Barb and Melissa. There are always this festive.
I love them so!
Some more JLSA sustainer beauties and our tour guide for the evening!
Cara was fantastic and it was obvious that she loves her job!
My family has been coming down here since the first month the Pearl Farmer’s Market opened. Since we had moved from Dallas, we had been yearning to have something like the Dallas Farmer’s Market in our new city. Over the years, it is like a Dallas Farmer’s Market but a little more sophisticated. Now, it is very much a foodie destination as well. It is one of our favorite places in San Antonio, as well as most of the places along the Museum Reach and the Broadway corridor.
Here is a list of events that will be happening all along the Museum Reach this weekend. If you aren’t in the Christmas spirit yet because the weather is a little bit too warm, these events might make up for it! I am sure I might leave something out. All of these events are on Saturday, December 1st.
The Garage of Good-This is an open air Holiday Market that will be held at Lions Field at Broadway and Mulberry from 10 am to 4pm. It has live music, food and unique gifts made by local artists and other types of wonderful things. I have two personal friends that will be there. They are the most talented and delightful people you will ever meet! My friend Laura owns Laura Q Design Studio. You can see some of her work here LAURAQ . And Teresa is a partner in the Funky Relic. She and her business partner buy and sell antique items at reasonable prices. Her website is FUNKYRELIC . There are so many more vendors and booths but these are my sassy girlfriends who I used to spend so much time with when our boys were in play group together! Open air markets on a crisp morning while sipping coffee and walking the dog…that is just heaven to me! For more information, head on over to the Facebook page GARAGEOFGOOD .
The 3rd Annual Tamales! Holiday Festival-When you are done with your shopping at Garage of Good, head on down to try some tamales at the Pearl down the street. Its starts at noon and goes until 6pm. There will be over 40 tamale makers to sample. There will be live music, musicians in the amphitheater, activities for your kids at Pearl park. We have been every year and it just keeps getting bigger and better. To get an idea of how festive it will be then click on TAMALES .
The Lighting of the Museum Reach-I know it might be hard to line up a babysitter with just a day’s notice but this might be the perfect date night experience for you love birds! The San Antonio Museum of Art is offering FREE ADMISSION from 5-9pm on Saturday December 1st during the lighting of of the Museum Reach. This means you can go to the Aphrodite exhibit for free. Now, I don’t want to sound like a giggly teenager but if you want to bring a little spark to your date night, this is the place to go. If you don’t take advantage of this, then I don’t want to hear you girls saying that you never do anything out of the ordinary for date night. Start calling your babysitters now! Your husbands will thank me, you will thank me! The Gods of Love are waiting for you! For more details click here AHPRODITE. Parking for the museum is right across the street and it’s FREE too!
