How can you not like San Antonio? The River Walk alone is worthy of a crush at least. Little did I know after moving here with my husband that I could fall so madly in love with a city. We didn’t know that many people when we moved here with a four month old baby and couldn’t even navigate where to find diapers late at night. Well that all changed when I dove in head first into exploring and volunteering and getting to know so many friendly people that were eager to help you fall in love too.
I don’t know if it has to do with the amount of active and retired military citizens or those that have moved off for college only to come back because they know they want to raise their families here as well but whatever it might be, it makes you feel proud of your new adopted home.
I learned so much about the culture and people and families in San Antonio and how much Fiesta plays in the history and legacies of families and how food booth assignments are passed down like an heirloom. Little did I know that the entire event, all 10 plus days is put on by volunteers and the proceeds go to scholarships to kids in our community. I don’t know of any other city that can say that in this entire country and San Antonio just keeps it their own little secret. Well, I think the secret of San Antonio is starting to get out and it would be selfish not to share . I hope you enjoy my love notes about San Antonio and see exactly what makes our city so unique.
the Fiesta Arts Fair at the Southwest School of Art is a family favorite!
