Little Red Barn is Big on Family

A few weeks ago I attended the bridal shower of a young lady who had been our babysitter. Once she graduated college and met her new boyfriend, we saw her less and less! She grew up in San Antonio in a very close knit and loving family.               Her mother and I have become personal friends over the years and have stayed in touch. When Pattie called me to give me the news about her daughter Erica, I could have sworn that she was about to burst with excitement over the phone. She is proud of both of her daughters and … [Read more...]

A Chihuly Kind of Wedding

I love weddings. I love family weddings even more. I recently attended my niece’s wedding at the Dallas Arboretum. Wedding Punch

Well, I am finally back in town. I had a whirlwind weekend in Dallas at my niece's wedding. It was at the Dallas Aboretum. It was just lovely. Here is a picture from the reception at the wedding. It had fruit juice, sparkling water and almond extract. That's it.  She didn't divulge the exact portions of each but you could probably adjust it as you like it for your taste. My guess is that it had pineapple juice and maybe orange juice … [Read more...]

A Recipe for Love

Nick and Sarah     A few weeks ago, my husband and I attended an engagement party for a young lady who was barely a teenager when we first met her over fourteen years ago. She moved to New York City and fell in love with Nick, who had gotten down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage. It truly sounds like the perfect fairy tale. He managed to completely surprise her; which is very hard to do. The romantic proposal took place in early November, along the Hudson River. I love stories of finding love in a … [Read more...]
