Maddie Mac Boutique

When one of my fellow Antonian basketball team moms handed me the card to order our t-shirts, I had no idea that I would stumble upon such a sassy treasure!  Maddie Mac Boutique has been cranking out unique and custom creations for over sixteen years! The mind behind this fun store is Maggie Ibarra-Jimenez. She started her business in 1998 after she found out she was having a daughter. It was a way to have some flexibility with her family of three. What began as making hair bows and t-shirts for girls, soon blossomed into her having to purchase the building to house her … [Read more...]

Joli Boutique

I met my friend Monica for lunch the other day. I couldn't wait to sit down and talk to her about all the new things going on in her life. Her kids go to the same school as mine, but we usually only have time to wave at each other in the car pool lane! I first met her when her husband Tommy coached my then 5 year son old's flag football team at the YMCA. And they would eventually figure out that my husband and Tommy actually played against each other in college football. They had to have tackled each other while Tommy was at Sul Ross and Steve was playing for Austin College. They … [Read more...]

Casa Guero Decorates For Less

SASSY UPDATE: December 2014-One of my readers informed me that the Blanco and West San Antonio location is no longer open. You can still order items online and shop at their store in Laredo.    Back when I was a single gal and living in Dallas, I would buy an outfit to go out every single Saturday night. That may sound so frivolous and excessive but it wasn’t at all. I had friends with market cards and we would scour the wholesale places all around the Dallas Market area to find the perfect thing to wear. We would compete against each other to come in under $20.  Oh, the … [Read more...]

Here We Go to Trader Joe’s

Well by now, you've probably heard that Trader Joe's opened this weekend. In case you've been under a rock, this speciality grocery store is so popular that some of my friends wept with joy when they heard that San Antonio would be one of the first cities in Texas to have their very own store. Can y'all believe we got a Trader Joe's before Austin? Now, who is hip now?   The big Stud and I went on Sunday to check out exactly what all the fuss is about. We went by ourselves so we considered it a date. Anywhere we go without our children present and we can have a fully … [Read more...]

A General Store to Remember

If you have been a Livin’ Sassy reader for very long, then you know how much I love to bring you places and events that are slightly off the beaten path. Family time doesn’t always have to involve the megamall or theme park. We have lived in San Antonio for almost fourteen years and I thought that I knew about most of the places to take your kids for fun. I recently took my family to a place that has been around town for a very long time. I just wish I had known about it when my son was a baby.       My neighbor Stella had been telling me about taking her kids to … [Read more...]

You Don’t Know About Sam Moon?

Did ya'll know that I lived in Dallas for twelve years? Well, I did. I moved up there to go to college and experience the big city. It's where I met the big Stud. Some mutual friends fixed us up on a blind date. He had been dating someone for seven years but proposed to me after we had dated just six weeks! He was in love and so was I! I said yes. I didn't mean to get all gushy. Our 18th anniversary is coming up in July so I am sure to give you more details next month. This is a post about shopping at wholesale prices! There are a lot of things that I miss about Dallas. Traffic is not … [Read more...]

Studio Joli is a Lovely Surprise

Jan 7th, 2014- Sassy Update: Joli Boutique has moved to the Alon Market. The address is 10003 NW Military Hwy. near the intersection of NW Military and Wurzbach. I peeked in the window and they seem to have the same sassy outfits! Studio Joli is a surprise. A treasure awaits you when you walk through their doors. I really can't take credit for discovering this wonderful little boutique. My husband came home and told me about it after he had been to the bakery located right next door. I was used to driving right past the shopping center since it had been empty for quite awhile. Not only do … [Read more...]
