Laundry Doesn’t Have to Be Boring!

I am having a long overdue date with the laundry today. I hope he takes me for a quick spin while being both gentle and delicate. And maybe if I'm lucky, a little permanent press! May your laundry dreams come true too! … [Read more...]

If You Give Your Mom a Muffin

cooking

Yesterday, I woke up and decided I was going to make a special breakfast for the kids. There were 6 more days left of our summer so I wanted to surprise them with a special treat. When I attempt to make something from scratch, it is always considered a treat because my husband is the main cook in our house. Let’s just say it’s not my favorite thing to do. He cooks, I wash the dishes and everyone is happy. I decided to bake them blueberry muffins, one of their favorites. As I was getting all of the ingredients out of the refrigerator, my boy walked into the kitchen. The conversation went … [Read more...]

My Big Hair: A Historical Perspective

[Untitled]001(23)

I was born with naturally curly hair. I used to hate it when I was growing up. I finally appreciated it by the time I reached high school. I was looking through some old photos while I was cleaning out my guest bedroom closet. I could almost give you the exact date simply by seeing my hair style in the photograph. My hair style has changed over the years but one thing I couldn't help but notice was that I have really big hair. I mean, really, really big hair. I thought it would be fun for you to see a little historical look at my life of big hair. Let's call it, "Sassy-A Historical Look … [Read more...]

These are a Few of My Favorite Things!

2012-06-20 12.47.25

I am making a list for a road trip. I am going to a wedding in Dallas. I get to see my great big family and eat wedding cake. I thought I would share with you what is on my shopping list. These are things that I consider road trip necessities. First there is body butter from the Body Shop. The orange scent is so perfect for summer time. I don't wear perfume that much anymore because there are so many scented lotions to compete with the scent. This is my favorite kind. It keeps you extra soft!                 These are makeup … [Read more...]

The Guest Bedroom Closet

uglyshirt

I finally cleaned out our guest bedroom closet. I figured it would be nice of me to have a place for my mother-in-law to hang up her clothes in the same room she was sleeping in; unlike the last fourteen years. Our guests have always had to use the hall closet to hang up their clothes when they would visit. I think she is going to be surprised! I am now left with about 6 huge boxes of pictures to sort through and about 1/4 of the clothes that were in there that I just couldn't bear to part with. It feels good. I wish I would have taken a before picture but I hadn't planned on blogging about … [Read more...]

Field Trip to the Zoo-A Melodrama

elephant

I went with one of the twins on her class field trip to the zoo today. I just love field trips. I think I love them so much because it was the only time that our Mom let us have any form of junk food. We could buy one bag of chips for our sandwich and a soft drink. The thrill of picking out my very own Shasta flavored drink was almost too much to take. I was wide awake the night before any field trip. I remember writing my name on the that little piece of masking tape and then putting that soft drink in the huge class cooler with all our packed lunches with such anticipation! I was so … [Read more...]
