The Magic of Rainbows

We were at a hotel this weekend right across from the Tobin Performing Arts Center. It was a birthday sleepover party for our ten year old girls and a few friends. What's not to love about eating potato chips and cupcakes, ordering pizza and swimming in a hotel  pool? We didn't think we would get to swim because of the rainstorm. Thank heavens we came prepared with games of Twister and Monopoly. I mean, they are Girl Scouts and prepared for anything! When the rain finally stopped and the sun started peeking through the clouds, I declared it was time to go swimming. I have never … [Read more...]

Pinterest Comes to Life Once a Year

I just spent the weekend with my husband. And unlike the other fifty-one weekends of the year, it was just us. We have gotten away for at least one night together for the last nineteen years. It started out as a way to celebrate my husband's birthday. After the kids arrived, it became mandatory for our marriage to stay happy. If the budget allows, we like to choose a four star hotel because it just makes it even more special. There have been plenty of years that it ended up being a one star hotel! It really doesn't matter where we escape but just the fact that we … [Read more...]

Overnight Stay Sweepstakes Giveaway!

Well just like doing my taxes, I have procrastinating in having a Livin' Sassy sweepstakes giveaway for my readers! Can y'all forgive me? Does it help to know that the  winner of a random drawing will be able to spend a night at the elegant and recently totally renovated Emily Morgan Hotel in downtown San Antonio? I went to an event there a few months ago and just fell in love all over again with this hotel. Since the renovations, the lobby has a real hip and trendy vibe while reminding you that you are in one of a kind historic location. And the Alamo is literally right next … [Read more...]

The Element Hotel

Does a weekend trip away with your son's basketball team mean that you have to give up on feeling sassy? Well, not if you stay in a hotel that my husband stumbled upon while surfing the internet! We recently returned home from Houston and our second  stay at the Element Hotel.  Our boy's team played in a tournament at gyms in the Tomball, Spring and Klein areas of Northwest Houston. I normally don't get too excited about staying in a hotel when I am at one of my son's sporting events. We typically aren't in the room long enough for me to even form an opinion. And most of the places we … [Read more...]

The Elegance of the Eilan Hotel

If you are in need to transport yourself to Europe without having to purchase a ticket, then the new Eilan Hotel is the place for you. I was not prepared for the sight of this new development as I rounded the curve of the road that leads to their doorway. The view as I drove closer to the destination reminded me of a similar drive I made in Europe back in 1997. I felt as if I was among the many piazzas that I had fallen in love with in Italy those many years ago. The piazzas where you leisurely sip wonderful espresso and eat gelato while watching the fashionable people stroll by seemingly … [Read more...]

Weekend at the JW….or not

We took the kids with us to spend Friday night at the JW Marriott Resort San Antonio Hill Country. The hubby and I have been a few times before on our anniversary and New Year's Eve. The kids have also been to an event before but never spent the night and we thought it would fun to let them experience it. My kids are easily entertained. We could go up and down the elevator and escalators for hours and they would think it was better than an amusement park. Well, we did go up the elevators more than a few times and the kids definitely got the JW experience. The twins said, "WOW, look at that!" … [Read more...]
