Golfing in the Hill Country

When  I was growing up, our family spent time together sailing on Lake Tyler. And then when our daddy bought a little airplane, we spent weekends out at the airport. We affectionately referred to it as, "the Kilgore International Airport." It was so little that I used the runways for driving practice when I was learning how to drive. My daddy gave me the keys to his Datsun pickup and instructed me to, "Keep an eye out for a plane that might want to land and just pull over!" Oh, the perks of small town life! Hometown Vacation

When you live in a city of a million people, sometimes spending a little time away in a small town is the perfect summer vacation.  And that's what my family decided to do when we went to my hometown of Kilgore, Texas. We booked four nights at a local hotel and acted like tourists. Can you say free breakfast buffet? It has quickly become a tradition to get our entire Ott family together in the month of July.
