Dickens on Main in Boerne

Last night, we finally made it out to Dickens on Main in Boerne. It seems like every single time we thought about going in years past it was already over. There are only four nights to catch it, Friday and Saturday night this weekend and next. I finally remembered this year. Let me explain the experience a little bit. The streets in downtown Boerne are closed off and opened up to pedestrians. The businesses along Main St. are beautifully decorated. There is live music, Santa Claus, a petting zoo and carriage rides. There is even snow! Make that fake snow that is blown out of a couple … [Read more...]

Luminaria in Pictures

I attended the 5th annual Luminaria this weekend after it had moved from the regularly scheduled date back in March. (Click for original post LUMINARIA-AGIFTTOOURCITY ) San Antonio came out and made it a record setting crowd of over 315,000. If the crowd grows much bigger, I hope they consider expanding it beyond the HemisFair Park footprint. Everyone seemed to have a great time and enjoyed all that is unique that this night has to offer.  Art in the form of light is beautiful indeed! Here  are some pictures from the evening. My husband took most of them. I never realized how hard it is to … [Read more...]

Luminaria is a Gift to our City

Luminaria is coming. And I couldn't be happier. The event started five years ago and is modeled after Paris’ Nuit Blanche which showcases art in the theme of light. Our former Mayor Phi Hardberger envisioned San Antonio having its own showcase of light and art and each year has been bigger and better than the previous one. A free and family-friendly outdoor event, Luminaria showcases the city's unique cultural mix of over 150 artists' work in six different artistic disciplines: music, dance, film, literary arts, theater and visual arts. Luminaria hopes to inspire those in … [Read more...]
