Our Day at American Girl in Dallas

When I was a volunteer in the Junior League of San Antonio, we hosted the American Girl Party at the Ole Market’s fundraiser. My son was about 3 years old at the time and I didn’t have daughters yet. I just loved watching all the little girls walk in with their dolls in their arms. A lot of them had clothes on that matched the dolls. It was set up like a big tea party with an educational presentation featuring the doll of the year. They usually served finger foods and punch and lots of candy.               I didn’t have an American … [Read more...]

My Big Hair: A Historical Perspective

I was born with naturally curly hair. I used to hate it when I was growing up. I finally appreciated it by the time I reached high school. I was looking through some old photos while I was cleaning out my guest bedroom closet. I could almost give you the exact date simply by seeing my hair style in the photograph. My hair style has changed over the years but one thing I couldn't help but notice was that I have really big hair. I mean, really, really big hair. I thought it would be fun for you to see a little historical look at my life of big hair. Let's call it, "Sassy-A Historical Look … [Read more...]

Happy July 4th

Happy 4th of July! Driving for five hours in the car isn't our typical July 4th way to celebrate this day, but it is this year. I am so sorry I haven't blogged much lately. Maybe you thought that I was off on some exotic island or too upset about the TomKat impending divorce; neither of which would be true. And I might just be delusional in thinking that you even missed me a little bit. After all, the whole world seems to be on vacation right now, but I sure did think about you. We went on our annual summer tour of Texas. We go and visit my family in East Texas and the big Stud's … [Read more...]

You Don’t Know About Sam Moon?

Did ya'll know that I lived in Dallas for twelve years? Well, I did. I moved up there to go to college and experience the big city. It's where I met the big Stud. Some mutual friends fixed us up on a blind date. He had been dating someone for seven years but proposed to me after we had dated just six weeks! He was in love and so was I! I said yes. I didn't mean to get all gushy. Our 18th anniversary is coming up in July so I am sure to give you more details next month. This is a post about shopping at wholesale prices! There are a lot of things that I miss about Dallas. Traffic is not … [Read more...]

Dallas is BACK!

I have to admit that when I first heard the news that TNT was bringing the old  Dallas TV series back, I was skeptical. I just didn't want them to mess with a formula that had worked so well. There are so many people in my generation that spent every Friday night in front of the television to watch the latest episode of Dallas. Before the invention of a VCR or DVR, it was necessary to plan your schedule around your favorite TV show; and Dallas was a favorite to a lot of my friends. We loved it not just for it being about a family that was in the oil business, growing up in Kilgore, everyone … [Read more...]
