Sassy at Younique Boutique

Our Sassy Mom model teachers, Shannon and Ruby are back this month.  I had to get them to pose for pictures before another school year starts up. I see them in the school halls of my daughter’s elementary school. They are the best of friends. Not only are they very fashionable, but they are a whole lot of fun. One of my readers told me about a boutique in Stone Oak that she loves. It is located in the front part of a tanning salon. I was  intrigued. What is not to love about getting a spray tan and an outfit at the same location? We are all busy Moms after all. We decided to check out a … [Read more...]

You Don’t Know About Sam Moon?

Did ya'll know that I lived in Dallas for twelve years? Well, I did. I moved up there to go to college and experience the big city. It's where I met the big Stud. Some mutual friends fixed us up on a blind date. He had been dating someone for seven years but proposed to me after we had dated just six weeks! He was in love and so was I! I said yes. I didn't mean to get all gushy. Our 18th anniversary is coming up in July so I am sure to give you more details next month. This is a post about shopping at wholesale prices! There are a lot of things that I miss about Dallas. Traffic is not … [Read more...]

Karolina’s on My Mind

I had an hour to kill between appointments the other day and I suddenly realized that I was near one of my favorite quirky stores, Karolina's. I don't go in there very often but when I do, I always ask myself, "Why don't I come in here more often?" I have very intelligent conversations with myself. I used to have the luxury of time to browse around and shop. Those days are long gone since I now have 3 children. I am always in a hurry. On those rare occasions that I have time on my hands, I want it to be worth it. I knew that this store would be and then some. There is just something … [Read more...]

The Fancy Camera is Back

The camera I bought back in January had to be sent back for repair. It came back today and the problem was the mirror. I hope it never happens again. I missed it so much. My other cameras are secondary to this one. It is a NIKON D5100. Oh, I am so glad to have it in my hands again! I had the camera with me when I went to pick up the clothes from Francesca's at LaCantera. My friends had picked out clothes for our photo shoot today. To bring you up to speed, a large part of Livin' Sassy is me taking a group of my friends and having them model the latest fashions. We pick out a store and then … [Read more...]

Fiesta Fashions at Market Square

Fiesta is almost here! For my non-San Antonio readers, Fiesta is 11 days worth of events that San Antonio's local non-profits as well as military units put on to help raise money for our community. The proceeds are targeted towards education and scholarships to help our local youth. It showcases San Antonio's diverse and rich culture through over 100 events beginning Thursday, April 19th until Sunday, April 29th. Those are fancy words for "It's a party!" And a very fun party. You need to come and see it for yourself! All these events require a lot of festive outfits. I couldn't think of a … [Read more...]

Shopping and Eating Under the Oil Derricks

There were squeals of delight when I contacted my high school friends to meet me over spring break so we could show off our hometown of Kilgore, Texas. We all currently live in various parts of the state so I had to juggle travel and busy schedules of all these Sassy Mom models but we finally had a date and time to meet so I could take their pictures for the website. We are so proud of the new look and feel of downtown. We couldn't wait to share with you the transformation our town has gone through the last few years.  I knew there were lots of places to shop and eat but I didn't realize … [Read more...]

Our Love Note to Downtown Kilgore

In 1955, soon after graduating from Southwestern Medical School and interning at Baylor Hospital, my Daddy set out to find a town to set up his practice and raise his growing family. His father was a successful neurosurgeon in Fort Worth. He desired a different experience for his new career in the medical profession. He wanted a much smaller town environment so he could get to know the families a little more in his general practice.  When he drove into the town of Kilgore, he quickly knew that this would be the place. He loved the tall pine trees and the vibrant downtown that was sprinkled with … [Read more...]
