A Day at the Home and Garden Show

Pinterest

Landscape Design I went to the Home and Garden Show on Sunday.  I took only one of my three kids with me since she was the only one that likes crowds.  Let’s say she’s sassy like that!

I had a feeling that the spring version of the H&G Show was going to have a huge attendance. I knew people would be out in force to get ideas to spruce up their dwellings after this long, cold winter.

And boy was I right!

It was crowded.

If you are used to having three kids out and about with you, and you just happen to have only one of them with you, then you might as well be on vacation!

Wind ChimesThe wall to wall people didn’t deter us.

(the wind chimes were my daughter’s favorite)

John's Landscaping We saw a lot of tile, hardwood floors, pool companies and landscape type firms.

I didn’t see any big trend changes to expect for spring.

Iron Doors There is still wrought iron railing and doors.

I think the look is so elegant and timeless.

Now, we just need a house to go with it!

Outdoor Kitchen

Outdoor Kitchen Living.

They seem to get bigger and with more gadgets.

2nd Place Winner UIW Design AwardsThe winners of the University of the Incarnate Word Design Contest were on display.

This is the 2nd place winner.

I liked this one the most.

It is more traditional which is my style.

3rd Place Winner UIW Design Awards And here is the 3rd place winner.

The color palette is very similar.

I love the fabric on the chair.

1st Place Winner UIW Design Award Here is the grand prize 1st place winner of scholarship money.

You know their parents were thrilled!

It’s very bright and modern.

The colors make me yearn for Fiesta.

Fiesta Store Booth Well, what do you know?

The Fiesta Store had their own booth!

Only 44 more days until Fiesta.

VIVA FIESTA!

Alexander VineyardsThe biggest crowds seemed to gather around the wine area.  There was probably about 6 booths all in a row.

They were all handing out samples.

I guess they needed to do research to see what they will serve in their next outdoor kitchen party.

Farm To Juice My daughter was thirsty but I wasn’t about to give her a wine sample, this isn’t exactly France!

We opted to sample juices of all kinds.

I drank beets and spinach y’all!

It was yummy!

We ended up comprising and getting something with fruit.

It’s a lot to ask for an 8 year old to drink kale!

Scottish Stained GlassTrends may come and go, but I think stain glass will always be in style.

The people at this booth were so sweet.

When I got back home to research the prices, I found out why the company is named Scottish Stained Glass.  The owner is Scottish. His accent is so wonderful that I went back to listen to the video on the website again and again!

No wonder the employees were so nice. They get to listen to his soothing voice all day long!

Habitat for Humanity Home Center I was so glad to see the Habitat for Humanity Booth.

Their home center sells items that help fund the building of homes.
Not only do they have unique and one of a kind items, they are priced very reasonably.

They are always looking for donations to help stock their thrift store.  And of course, monetary donations will be appreciated too!

I have been to the Probandt location a few times and found some door knobs that had been saved from a house that was going to be razed.  You just never know what you will find on any given day! That’s the fun part of shopping there and knowing that it helps builds houses is a bonus!

GardenvilleAll and all we had a good time seeing all the booths at this spring’s show.

I ended up buying a necklace and my daughter talked me into one of those loom band  jewelry makers that have the 3rd grade class girls all in a tizzy!

Yes, we went to a Home and Garden show and  came home with all sorts of jewelry.

It kind of makes sense.

Because we’re sassy like that!

If this weekend’s attendance numbers are any indication of the upcoming spring and summer home building, buying and home improvement activity; there is sure to be some very long “honey do lists” all over town!

Stay Sassy Y’all.
