The Element Hotel

The breakfast area is to the right and the food is not your typical “FREE” meal.

Does a weekend trip away with your son’s basketball team mean that you have to give up on feeling sassy?

Well, not if you stay in a hotel that my husband stumbled upon while surfing the internet!

We recently returned home from Houston and our second  stay at the Element Hotel.  Our boy’s team played in a tournament at gyms in the Tomball, Spring and Klein areas of Northwest Houston.

I normally don’t get too excited about staying in a hotel when I am at one of my son’s sporting events. We typically aren’t in the room long enough for me to even form an opinion. And most of the places we stay in the “under $100 price range” aren’t worthy of a mention to my friends, much less my readers.

This hotel is different.

My husband was wanting to use his Starwood points to book a room for another tournament back in December. He found the Element as an option. We couldn’t believe the pictures of the hotel and the small price tag. They didn’t seem to belong together! And after staying there two different weekends, we still can’t get over the luxury of this  place for the price.

The lobby has lots of conversation areas.

The hotel has a definite European feel. It has an open lobby with ample seating areas. Its rooms are  ergonomically friendly as well, with recycling bins and filtered drinking water in every room. Each room is equipped with a fully stocked kitchen and free WIFI. There never seems to be a limit in how many devices  can be used on the internet per room,  and trust me, we gave it our best shot!   I can’t forget to mention the “heavenly beds.” The bedding is the same that is found in the Starwood higher priced hotels. It was hard to pry myself out of that much comfort.

There was enough time in this tournament between games to utilize their workout facilities. There are ear phones in case you forgot to bring yours as well as state of the art equipment. The treadmills had TV’s and all the other equipment had adapters for your iPhones, etc to listen to music.

We found out they are also pet friendly. We brought our small dog and were not charged an additional fee. We were only required to sign a waiver form. There were lots of grassy areas to walk Sofie. She seemed to love her stay too.

There is a free breakfast buffet with plenty of healthy food options; bran muffins, egg white sandwiches, breakfast tacos served with spinach tortillas. The kid’s favorite this visit was the strawberry and banana smoothie shooters!

There are washer and dryers for those uniforms between games.

The hotel is located near an upscale shopping center with plenty of unique places to dine and shop. It would be very easy to walk the short distance assuming you don’t have your hands full with shopping bags!

There are plenty of washers and dryers to take care of those dirty uniforms between games.

I have never experienced a hotel that has such a “four star” feel to it for the price of $89.00 a night.

Now, this “green” concept might not be for everyone but it is just perfect for my family.

It makes those  long, exhausting weekends of sports action a little easier on your bodies as well as your pocketbook!

I just had to share this find with my readers so you can feel sassy too!

We also ate at some great restaurants that were pretty inexpensive as well.

Pecos Grilling Company-The food was wonderful and the service was even better, especially since we had a big crowd with us. I am still thinking about those fresh baked rolls!

Goodsons– Home cooked meals with more great service for an even bigger crowd!

Salata- I can’t believe the quality of food for the price. I wonder when San Antonio will get one of these restaurants?

I wish I had taken more pictures of the room and restaurant food to share with you, but it was all about basketball!

The NBA might have had their All-Star game in Houston the same weekend, but we had our own 8th grade all star game too!

Stay Sassy Y’all.
